Cornea is an album by pianist and composer Sebastian Zawadzki and his Nordic Trio, recorded in Copenhagen. Created for piano, double bass and drums, the album brings together the intimacy of a modern jazz piano trio with the spaciousness, clarity and restraint often associated with Nordic jazz and Scandinavian contemporary jazz.

The title Cornea refers to the transparent outer layer of the eye — the point where light first enters and perception begins to take form. This idea became the conceptual starting point for the music: a threshold between clarity and obscurity, between sound and silence, between structure and atmosphere. The compositions unfold gradually, allowing the listener to enter a world where musical forms appear slowly, through repetition, texture, resonance and subtle shifts in dynamics.

Recorded in Copenhagen in 2025, Cornea reflects Sebastian Zawadzki’s ongoing exploration of sound, space and perception. The album focuses on transparency and detail, using the classic format of the jazz piano trio in a highly personal way. Piano, double bass and drums create an exposed, intimate sound world where every gesture matters and every resonance becomes part of the overall form.

The music moves between Nordic jazz piano, modern jazz, contemporary classical sensitivity and minimalist improvisation. Rather than aiming for direct description, Cornea opens a field of listening — a space where sound gradually comes into focus, then dissolves again into texture, silence and atmosphere.

Featuring Sebastian Zawadzki on piano, Mariusz Praśniewski on double bass and Haim Peskoff on drums, the album presents a refined and spacious trio language rooted in European jazz, Scandinavian sound aesthetics and contemporary composition.
